Under New York State Law / Real Property Tax / Article 3 / Title 1 / 305, all real property in each assessing unit shall be assessed at a uniform percentage of value.
Many property owners argue that a neighbor’s property is more valuable but is assessed less that theirs. Unless there is a town wide reassessment, the better argument is that my neighborhood IS NOT assessed using uniform percentages of value. This argument seem to have a better chance of standing up in court.
